The Three Main Super Mario Games Series

Who doesn't know about Super Mario games? There are at least three major installments, with hundreds - if not thousands - of variations available worldwide. He is that short Italian-American plumber who lives in New York. As a plumber, he goes down the sewers until he comes across the world called the Mushroom Kingdom. Mario has a brother Luigi and together they help to rescue Princess Toadstool from the evil claws of King Koopa.

The first Mario Bros arcade game was released in 1983 wherein Mario and Luigi play the main antagonist roles. This was the starting point of the very famous Super Mario games series that many people love around the world. Players become engaged to the game mainly because of its exciting storyline and colorful backgrounds. The game is set in many worlds and that fact alone gives players the push they need to finish the game.

The first Mario Bros game series is indeed a very engaging one. Being composed of eight worlds, each of them has a castle where King Koopa have kept the princess. Mario has to conquer each of these worlds, enter the castle, and defeat the minion of King Koopa that defends each of them. Mario has to go through a number of Koopa's henchmen in the form of turtles, monkeys, and bullets, among others.

The second Super Mario games series was simply entitled Mario Bros 2. After the successful rescue of the princess, players can choose between four characters: Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, or Toad. Each of these characters has unique and special abilities that will help the player in the adventure. Luigi is the one who can jump the highest. Toad is most reliable when it comes to digging. Princess Peach has the ability to float. Mario however, has a little of each of these abilities.

Super Mario Bros 3 is the third and last installment of the Super Mario game series. Here, the quest of saving the Princess is restored. Mario has to go through eight new different worlds in order to rescue her, but the battle is much fiercer now. King Bowser now has children who were called the Koopalings. Altogether, they are determined to keep Mario and his brother away from the princess. Mario and Luigi are provided with power-ups that will give him better abilities or extra lives.

Although these three series are the major ones, there are a lot of other Super Mario games released. There are Nintendo games called Super Mario Land, Mario World, Super Mario Land: 6 Golden Coins, Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, and many others. All of them were able to inspire gaming fanatics to love him even more. When Mario's popularity reached its peak, Nintendo practically went into overtime to release new games under its famous franchise annually. Nintendo is still making Super Mario games, with the latest being Super Mario Galaxy 2, which was created for the newer game consoles.

Top Three Educational Xbox Games for Your Family

The world of console gaming at home has just become more exciting with new titles that take advantage of Xbox 360 motion-sensing control technology. Microsoft's Kinect motion-controlled system for its Xbox 360 allows you to enjoy the latest Xbox games without wired controllers getting in the way.

How does Kinect work?

To work properly, Kinect sensor has to sit in front of you, and along the same plane of your TV. Using an array of cameras and microphones to detect and track the movement of up to two players, the Kinect will translate the motions into game control signals. You jump and your character onscreen jumps. Whichever way you look at it, the Kinect certainly adds a new dimension to your gaming experience.

If your children love Kinect and are excited about buying the latest Xbox 360 game, it is a good idea to check what the kids are playing with so you can exercise your judgment on what goes into your kid's Xbox console. Here are the top three educational games for the Xbox 360, with or without Kinect, that any child will enjoy, and are just as entertaining for adults in the family.

Kinectimals

Designed to enthrall the youngest Xbox players, Kinectimals, as the name suggest, uses the Kinect game peripheral to interact with 20 various animals in high definition video. These cuddly animals can be trained as they mimic your movements like jumping and spinning that brings the gaming experience into a whole new dimension for kids. If there's one game that can teach young children about loving animals, this has to be it. But that doesn't mean older pet lovers in the family are too old to enjoy it. Who doesn't enjoy tiger and lion cubs that react warmly to your petting?

LEGO Harry Potter

When you have two of the most popular names in kid's play and the movie world, you just can't fail. Targeting young kids, the LEGO Harry Potter game is a marriage of our favorite Danish building bricks with the Hogwarts characters of J.K. Rowling. In this game, Harry goes through his first four years in the the Hogwarts school of magic. Fans of the books can easily recognize the characters in the series even if they appear as stiff LEGO characters. Parents or older siblings will need to help younger kids navigate through the game and solve its tricky puzzles, making it a terrific game for the entire family.

Toy Story 3

Now who can't fall in love with the lovable Woody and Buzz Lightyear franchise, especially with the highly acclaimed 3rd installment? This is not just for kids, but for kids at heart as well. While not all games based on movies are good, this is one gem of an exception, even if it's not one of the Xbox games that require a Kinect sensor. Apart from sticking close to the movie's storyline, you get to play through various puzzle activities with your choice of character. Aside from this, there is also a "Toy Box" mode that lets you explore creative worlds of each toy character found in the movie like race cars in a farm circuit and army toys parachuting onto targets.

Three Awesome Reasons Why Madden 12 Will Be The Best Madden Yet

With Madden 11 behind us and Madden 12 rapidly approaching, the question on everyone's mind is the same: What's in store for the popular NFL football game franchise this time around? If you were worried that the answer to that question might be "not much," then worry no more. There are three awesome reasons why Madden 12 is shaping up to be the best Madden we've ever seen, and they couldn't have come at a better time.

1) New Collision System -- If you've ever played Madden before, then it won't take long for you to recognize what I mean when I say "tumbleweed tackles." The inability for multiple players to truly influence a tackle has been a problem in Madden for years, and has really hampered down the otherwise superb gameplay element of the Madden NFL franchise. In Madden 12, you can say goodbye to tumbleweed tackles and hello to a brand new collision system designed to help not only mitigate if not entirely eliminate the problems of consecutive hit tackling, but also to remove the dreaded suction tackles of the past, where defenders would suck in players like a vacuum cleaner when trying to make a tackle.

2) Enhanced Presentation -- It's not often that presentation means too much to the hardcore fans of the football game world, but when that presentation includes finally implementing NFL team mascots, cheerleaders and authentic team entrances, it's hard not to get excited. Anyone who has ever been to an NFL game knows how big of a draw the sideline antics of mascots and cheerleaders are, and anyone who has ever watched a Jacksonville Jaguars team entrance knows that there is something special about watching Jaxson deVille running out of the tunnel in a cloud of smoke with an American flag in his hand.

3) Custom Playbooks -- For years, Madden fans have been begging for the ability to make their own playbooks, and Madden 12 looks to finally deliver on those wishes. With custom playbooks, players will be able to truly create their own style of gameplay by developing their own strategy from ground up, starting with which plays should be in their arsenal of plays. For a Madden guru, football is as much about plays as it is about the players executing them, so having the ability to customize your own playbooks to your liking should go a long way to energizing a fan base that may have been a little disappointed in more generic additions to last year's Madden title, like GameFlow and the Strategy Pad control system.

David is more than just a Madden fan, he's a Madden guru. When David isn't giving you three great reasons to pick up Madden this year, he can be found discussing the upcoming Madden NFL 12 video game in even more detail on his popular Madden 12 blog.
